Hot Apple Rum Cake Recipe


Hot Apple Rum Cake

Cake:
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3 medium tart apples finely chopped
3/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
2 tsp. vanilla

Sauce:
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup whipping cream
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup rum

Grease 10 inch pie plate

Cream butter with sugar, add eggs and beat well. Sift flour, spices , soda and salt. Blend into butter mixture. Add apples, nuts and vanilla. mix thoroughly. Pour in to pie pan. Bake until lightly brown, about 45 minutes

Serve with sauce.

Sauce Directions:
Combined sugars and cream and butter cook on low heat for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat and add rum.
