Sugared Orange Walnuts
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon orange zest
1 egg white
1 tablespoon orange juice
2 cups walnut halves
Sift all dry ingredients, stir in orange zest and set aside. In a large bowl,
whisk egg and juice until foamy; stir in walnuts; toss to coat well. Drain
thoroughly. Roll walnuts in sugar mixture a third at a time until evenly coated.
Spread out nuts on a baking sheet so the nuts do not touch each other. Bake at
250 F. for 1 hour or until dry. Cool completely before storing in a tightly
covered container. May be stored up to one month.
