Pfeffernuesse
Ingredients:
4 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp mace
1 tsp allspice
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 1/4 cups honey
2 Tbsp butter
2 eggs
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1-2 Tbsp water
Method:
Mix flour, baking soda and spices together and set aside.
Heat the honey and butter until the butter melts then cool to lukewarm and beat
in eggs. Next add the flour mixture and chill the dough for 1/2 hour.
Shape dough into 1 inch balls and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350
degrees for 15 minutes and cool on a wire rack.
Mix powdered sugar, vanilla and water to form a thin glaze. Dip the cookies into
glaze and place on the rack to dry.
Makes 4 dozen.
