Butter Brickle Bars
Ingredients:
Cookie layer:
1 1/2 cup sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup softened butter or margarine
3/4 cup brown sugar
Method:
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease and lightly flour a 9 by 13 cake pan. Sift
flour and salt into a bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two forks. Add
sugar and mix well. Pat dough evenly in prepared pan. Bake 15 minutes. Cool
slightly.
Topping:
1 6oz bag of butterscotch chips.
1/4 cup light corn syrup
2 Tbs. shortening
1 Tbs. water
1/4 tsp. salt
2 cups coarsely chopped nuts
Method:
Combine all ingredients except nuts and heat until melted and smooth. Stir in
nuts. Spoon evenly over crust.. Bake 8 more minutes. Cool until slightly warm
and then cut into squares. Cool completely before serving.
