Maple Sugar Bars
Ingredients
1 cup shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup maple sugar (crushed)
2 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons milk
4 cups sifted flour
3 1/2 teaspoons Rumford or Clabber Girl Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Cream shortening, add granulated sugar gradually, creaming until light and
fluffy.
2. Cream in maple sugar.
3. Add beaten eggs and milk and blend well.
4. Sift flour, Baking Powder and salt and add gradually to creamed mixture.
5. Spread mixture on greased baking sheet (17 1/2" x 12" x 1") and bake in a
moderate oven (375° F.) 15-20 minutes.
6. While hot cut with sharp knife into strips.
Makes 4 dozen bars
