I have made these for about 40 years,
the recipe was from a Farm Journal Christmas book.
They are a nice soft sugar cookie
1 1/4 cups soft butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
2eggs 5 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt 4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon nutmeg 1/2 cup milk
Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and beat till fluffy. Sift together dry
ingredients. Add alternately with milk. If dough is to sticky to handle add more
flour. Roll ¼ inch thick on well floured surface and cut out. Bake on ungreased
cookie sheet 8 minutes at 350.
Frost with vanilla icing when cool. Makes about 100 cookies.

make a stiff enough dough to handle. I also use vanilla sometimes in place of
