Cake Doughnuts           

3 tablespoons shortening
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 cup milk
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder

Cream shortening; add sugar and beaten eggs. Sift dry ingredients together. Add alternately with milk. If necessary add more flour to make a soft dough. Roll half an inch thick on floured board/ Cut with cutter and fry in deep fryer until brown. You can frost or toss in a bag with sugar use your imagination!

 Yield 2 dozen.
