Baked Alpine Sandwiches

Prep Time 15 mins Cook Time 12 mins Makes 8 sandwiches
1 cup shredded Swiss cheese 250 mL
1 egg, slightly beaten 1
2 tbsp chopped stuffed olives 30 mL
1/4 tsp paprika 1 mL
2 1/2-inch (1.25 cm) thick slices round rye bread 2
4 slices crisp-cooked bacon, crumbled 4
pimento stuffed green olives, sliced
Combine cheese, egg, olives and paprika. Spread one side of bread with
margarine. Spread cheese mixture on bread to edges. Sprinkle with bacon. Place
sandwiches on baking sheet.
Bake at 350° F (175° C) for 12 minutes or until hot. Garnish with sliced olives.
Cut each sandwich into 8 or 10 wedges.
