Saucy Sloppy Joes

Ingredients
• 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
• 1 medium stalk of celery, chopped (1/2 cup)
• 1/2 of a small green pepper, chopped (1/4 cup)
• 1 clove garlic, minced
• 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
• 2 pounds cooked beef, chopped
• 2 cups barbecue sauce
• 1 tablespoon vinegar
• 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon dry mustard
• 1/2 teaspoon pepper
• 12 hamburger buns
Directions
1. Cook onion, celery, green pepper, and garlic in butter or margarine in a
large skillet until tender.
2. Stir in cooked beef, barbecue sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, dry
mustard, and pepper; bring to boiling. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20
minutes. Serve on hamburger buns. Makes 12 to 16 servings.
Note: To trim some of the fat, omit the butter or margarine and simmer all of
the ingredients together for about 30 minutes.
