Kringler
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
4 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups vegetable shortening. I use Crisco. Original used lard.
3 egg yolks (Save at least one white to use when you fill.)
1 cup lukewarm milk
brown sugar, chopped pecans, melted butter
Dissolve yeast in warm water. In large bowl mix flour, sugar and salt.
Cut in shortening like pie crust until very fine. Beat egg yolks with warm milk.
Add yeast mixture to egg yolk mixture and add it all at once to flour mixture and beat well.
Cover and refrigerate overnight (dough will keep about five days). Divide dough in four parts.
Roll out one part into rectangle about the same size as a piece of paper (8 1/2 " x 11") or close.
No rules here. It should be about 3/8" thick. (You can put down some flour to roll out. It won't hurt.)
Brush with the white of the egg that has been beaten slightly.
Sprinkle center 1/3 with brown sugar and chopped nuts (the lengthwise side).
After you put your brown sugar and pecans, drizzle with lots of butter.
Fold one long edge over middle, then fold the other side over the other part so kringler is folded in thirds.
Place kringler seam side down on a greased baked sheet. Turn end in to form a semi-circle.
Let rise two hours in a warm place. (It will rise much quicker than that tho.)
Bake at 350 for 25 minutes. When done, ice with confectioner's sugar icing made by mixing 1 cup confectioner's
sugar with one tablespoon very hot water, then sprinkle top with chopped nuts. Bake two at once.
They will hold in freezer after baking.

That's all folks.
